WILDERNESS RETREAT LODGE

Details

Home Description

Take a walk on the wild side in our wonderful, wildlife-themed cabin. Great memories are made here –with family gatherings, girlfriend get-aways, or a home away from home for a large family. You will never stay in a motel again!

A wolf family on a boulder welcomes you to our beautifully landscaped front yard. Walk up the huge flagstone steps to the large front porch where 2 cedar rocking chairs are waiting for you to rock your cares away. For the early risers, this is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee as the sun greets a new day.

As you enter the front door, prepare to be awed by the breathtaking great room! The soaring cathedral ceiling, the wood burning fireplace, the well equipped kitchen including a  large dining table, and the comfy living room area all cry out “Welcome home!” The “critters” above the closet love company and they are so glad you are here. A 50” flat screen HDTV along with a DVD/VHS player is ready for you in the living room. Lots of movies and CDs are provided for your enjoyment. Wireless internet, cable TV, and a landline phone with free long distance are provided for you. A bookcase holds a large assortment of books and there are plenty of quiet places to get away by yourself and enjoy them.

I know you can’t wait to explore and it is hard to know where to start. A master suite is on each side of the great room. One has a Fish Room theme and the other is the Moose Room. Both have wonderful, enormous, log, king sized beds.   All bedrooms have flat screen HDTVs and DVD/VHS players. All the beds have plush, pillowtop mattresses by Simmons Beautyrest.  Both these bedrooms have huge en-suite baths with double sinks, jetted tubs, and a large separate shower.

Each bedroom has a doorway to the huge deck. There is also a doorway to the deck from the great room. On the deck you will find a gas grill, patio table and several chairs. (Remember, I promised quiet places to enjoy a book.) The deck has a restful view of the quiet Ozark woods. Don’t be surprised to see wildlife. We have seen turkeys, deer, and a variety of small critters.

Back inside it is time to go downstairs to continue the exploration. Step into the game room and say “Wow!“ The quote on the wall says “You don’t stop playing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop playing.” This room promotes youth--at all ages!! Fun is what it is all about! Charles dreamed of owning a pool table all his life and here it is! And what a beauty it is! Next you will notice the air hockey table. We never knew how much fun air hockey could be!    On the wall is a another flat screen TV (47 inches) and DVD/VHS player. Check out the games- some board games and some DVD games. Lots of fun!   A futon folds down into a full size bed. Some of our favorite movie posters add to the décor of this room. Maybe your favorite will be there. (If you are a teen age girl--you may find one you like, thanks to our granddaughter. )

But wait--not done yet… Off the game room are two more bedrooms. One is Americana themed (check out pictures of our service oriented family) and has a king sized bed. The other room is just plain fun--it is cowboy themed and has two twin beds. (They can be pushed together if you wish) Both bedrooms have HDTVs, DVD/VHS players and access to the lower patio.

A door leads off the game room to the lower patio also. Here you will find another patio table and a charcoal grill. You will also find one of our favorite spots--a porch swing!   Also, in the backyard-- you will find a luxurious- private 6 person hot tub!  Super great for sore muscles after a long day at Silver Dollar City!

Off the game room, you will also find a full bath with a tub/shower and across the room is our newest improvement to this cabin- another full bath with large shower.  An ample sized utility room with a super capacity washer and dryer is found on this level as well. Iron and ironing board available. Don’t take home dirty clothes!

Back to the kitchen, we have tried to provide all the basics and some extras. There are lots of dishes, glasses, pots and pans, silverware, utensils, as well as a Bunn coffeepot (with filters and coffee) a blender, mixer, crockpot, griddle, large roaster, waffle-maker, and toaster. Some spices and sugar and cream are available.

This home is truly an exceptional place to gather and we know your family or group will love it as we do. You’uns come on in and sit a spell. We’re waiting for you at the Wilderness Retreat Cabin!

Home of Timber Mountain Lodge, Wilderness Retreat, Deer Run, and Ozark Legends Lodge

Branson Cedars Resort is a lovely community filled with rustic, but elegant-- true log homes. Nestled in the beautiful Ozark hills, these homes are nearly all individually owned and operated by their respective owners, which is easily evident by the obvious loving care shown to them.  Unique names, landscaped yards, and individual, personal touches all set this community apart from the big-business- run nightly rentals. These cabins are designed and operated for you, our guests, to have a special vacation in a real “home away from home.”

We love our wooded views from the back patios and decks and wildlife is in abundance. Don’t be surprised if deer, turkey, or other critters happen by as you bask in the quiet serenity of the Ozarks. The woodchucks are especially prevalent and often have their families out for a walk. They don’t seem to mind sharing their woods with us. We love the dogwoods in the spring, the glorious autumn colors in the fall, the snowy wonderland of winter, and thick green foliage of the summer. Every season is a spectacular show and you don’t even have to drive into Branson to enjoy it.

Branson Cedars once was surrounded by a golf course, but due to changes in management and developers, the necessary maintenance was not carried out. However, with the increased popularity of Disc Golf, the course was recently found to be a perfect fit for that sport. After the first tournament, the reviews of the course have been great. The course is open to our guests after checking in at the office. A healthy walk or a short drive will take you to a wonderful fun area where you will find an outdoor pool (open Memorial Day to Labor Day) and play area. A large sunbathing patio surrounds the pool. Volleyball, tetherball, a log tetter/totter, wooden play set, and more provide a wonderful place for the kids to work off some energy.

Branson Cedars is still very much a growing neighborhood, as evidenced by the new treehouses under construction at the entrance of the community. The construction is far enough away from the cabins to not cause any disturbances but it is fun to watch their progress as you drive by them daily. And, of course, if you are looking to buy a cabin or treehouse, the developer will be happy to talk to you. Again, we as owners are all separate from the developers. We are located just about 8 miles south of the 65/76 intersection. It only takes about 10 minutes to be there or to be at one of the great grocery stores in Hollister. We are about 5 minutes away from Big Cedar Lodge where all their restaurants and many of their businesses are open to the public. A wonderful 5K track surrounds Big Cedar and for the adventure-seekers, there is  a  2-3 mile real wilderness hike,  just past their stables. However, walking the old golf cart trails, around Branson Cedars, provides quite a workout! Going up and down those beautiful,  rolling hills can certainly get your heart pumping!

Several Tablerock Lake accesses are within 10 minutes, including the BassPro Marina (formerly Gages Marina).

The location is perfect to get away from it all,  if you prefer;  and then when you are ready-in a few short minutes, you can be right  back in the middle of  all the fun Branson and the area has to offer.

Branson Cedars Resort is certainly not a Big Cedar Lodge, but we love it and we think you will too!
