Gorgeous location and perfect site

We rented the property for a 70th birthday family/friends long weekend in late May. The property was the perfect location for all of us to gather. The site on the Elk River is lovely, interesting, and provided us with a fun place for the kids to dig/wade/swim. There is lots of lawn for badminton and corn hole games [you bring your own] and Dennis provided horseshoes and a pit for throwing them. The "big" house was the main gathering space for meals and dancing to the delightful juke box music. That juke box has tunes from the 40's on and provided us with lots of happy sing-alongs as well. The views from the windows in the huge front room were spectacular. The massive size of that room held a goodly amount of us when the rains came, and we were not at all crowded. There was enough space for many activities to simultaneously happen [cards, puzzles, board games, art projects!] There are lots of refrigerators in the kitchens and the garage. There is a gas grill which we put to good use and the cupboards were stocked with a great many dishes, platters, serving implements, etc. as well as condiments and teas that previous families had left behind, There were lots of pots and pans. We brought our own linens and towels, but there were some at the house as well. There is a washer/dryer in the main house. EVERYONE who came said that it was a PERFECT location for a family get-together and that we all need to come back again.

Couldn't think of a more relaxing spot

Spent three days here with some old friends from far away and couldn't think of any place better. We played wiffleball on the lawn, floated on the river, watched the sunset from the dock, saw ospreys feeding their young, did a little fishing and cracked crabs outside on the picnic table with a few adult beverages. The owner, Dennis, has a great property on his hands.

A Fabulous House for Our Annual Family Vacation

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful vacation home. It was perfect for our group that numbered 16 for the weekend then down to 13 for the majority of the week. Ages ranged from 70 to 4 and how perfect to have the different houses to make everyone so comfortable. The main house with the large dining table was perfect for our evening meals with everyone around the table. The beach on the river, the yard for games, the quiet places to get away to read, the portable fire pit for evening gatherings and s'mores was the best. And a plus was proximity to a charming historical town where we got a river cruise that not only showed the area of the Elk River but also the Chesapeake Bay with loads of historical information. What more could you ask for... Oh wait...you are also within an hour of Philadelphia and Baltimore, two great cities to explore. We have been doing this vacation for 15 years to keep our scattered family close at least for one week a year and everyone agreed this was the best!! Hope to see you again!!
