Home Description

Aloha, A wonderful, spacious and well maintained home in paradise is waiting for you. The interior is beautifully decorated in a tropical style, the kitchen is well equipped, and has all the conveniences for your enjoyment: AC, Wifi, Cable TV, but most of the time you will find yourself on the spacious lanai. Located on the second floor, you look out over tropical gardens and the pool to the Pacific just beyond. No other lanai's next to it or across from it to interrupt those views! Also there is an assigned parking space a few steps from the condo.

Ali'i Villas is a well designed and immaculately maintained property. Central in the complex (off the balcony) is the pool, bbq's and ocean view decks, to eat and visit. Ali'i Villas is one of the few complexes to have a heated pool. Usually not necessary, except for some of those cooler winter days. Just below the pool is the BBQ and outdoor dining area. A great place to meet new friends! A few steps down from there and you will be at the ocean's edge. A gathering place for many watching the sunset and hoping to catch the rare Green Flash.

Ali'i Villas is in a excellent location. Located on the ocean a short distance from town. A 20-25 minute walk, or a short drive down Ali'i Drive brings you to the many restaurants, shopping and activities that Kailua town has to offer. Adventures await in either direction along Ali'i Drive! Multiple beaches, parks, surfing spots and snorkeling can be found.

I am the owner and together with my brother self - manage it. My goal is to give you the best accommodations I can. Any questions or issues we are here to answer them.

Mahalo!

Michael

About The Area

Kailua-Kona is a popular vacation destination on the west coast Of Hawaii, the big island.  Built around Kailua Bay, in 1812 became the home of King Kamehameha the Great.

Kailua village is usually very mellow and low key although in October is the Ironman Triathalon World Championship!  If you plan on attending the event you must do it way in advance.

Throughout the year the area offers it's visitors many things to do.  There are many shops along Ali'i Drive to visit, the monthly art fair to attend and farmers markets to buy local fruits and vegetables.  Many restaurants for all tastes, from fine dining to fast food.  Also search out some of the local hidden places!  Marine activities of all sorts: swimming, snorkeling, surfing, deep sea fishing, night diving with manta rays, para-sailing and more.  Land based activities such as tennis, golf, cycling, hiking, museums.  And for some....just relaxing......sitting on a lanai, beach or pub, watching the waves roll in as the sun sets over the ocean.

Much in the news recently is the Kilauea eruption.  The pictures and videos are very dramatic and scary.  I get many questions about this.  The area affected is about 10 to 15 square miles on the other side of the island.  Hawaii, The Big Island is over 4000 square miles. The recent eruptions have had almost no impact on Kailua-Kona nor  most of the island.

House Rules

The primary rule should always be respect.........for the other guests, the employees, my condo and the complex, the island and its people.  Hawaiian culture and traditions are very much alive.

More specific rules:

Hawaii state law that there is no smoking in vacation rentals or hotels, except in designated areas.  They are very strict about that.

For the fun and safety of all please follow all pool rules.  They are clearly posted at the pool entrance.

Quiet time is from 10pm to 8am.

It is traditional to remove your shoes before entering a home.

Suitability

This is an easily accessible home for most people.  It is on the second floor so there is one flight of stairs to it.  There is a designated parking spot close to the front door and there are no parking fees.  Families are very welcome.

Ideal for a relaxing holiday at Kona

This place is really ideal for a relaxing holiday at Kona. Short distance to both nearest village and good beach. The surroundings with pool and barbecue area worked out so well for us with 2 kids. The condo is spacious and has all the amenities you need to feel comfortable. Michael our host was the best - as first timers to Airbnb ,he helped us with the booking & useful information all the way through! Thank so much for that . I will definitely recommend staying at Michaels place if you are going to Big Island.

Honestly one of the best I've stayed at

Honestly one of the best Airbnb I've stayed at. First, Michael's place is really well located: it's very close to the city center (30 min walk and a very quick drive) but far enough from the crowd. The amenities in the condo are awesome: the pool was really bigger than I expected and our 3 yrs old son enjoyed it a lot! It was easy to park and very safe. Michael's place was super clean and we found everything we needed to enjoy our stay in Big Island (towels, shampoo, soap, etc.). The unit was actually bigger than I thought and very cosy. It was great to come back home and relax after a long day exploring Big Island! Finally, Michael gave us very precise instructions and advice, ahead of our arrival. Thanks Michael, we had a great time, thanks to you!

Very happy with the condo.

My husband and I stayed for a couple of weeks. Very happy with the condo. Lovely to be able to see and hear the ocean. Lovely to have a swimming pool. Extensive collection of books by the pool. The condo was very clean and spacious. We appreciated all that was supplied - lots of dishware; good supply of pots and pans; plastic wrap and aluminum foil(!); lots of hangers :-) ; and even a laundry hamper! Michael was personable and a good host - easily available by phone or text. We would be happy to stay here again

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE AND GREAT LOCATION NEXT TO THE OCEAN

I stayed here before and now it has new furniture and flooring it's even better! It was warm when we were there, but opening the windows, for cross breeze, and using the fans was perfect. Never turned on the ac. Sitting on the lanai and looking at the tropical gardens and ocean was so relaxing. We ate every meal on the lanai, to enjoy what we don't have at home. Perfect dining! The pool is just a 30 second walk and the ocean is just a 60 second walk. You can't beat that! We walked to town some mornings and evenings, which we enjoyed doing. It was about 15-20 minutes, depending on our pace. We always felt safe and were happy to get our exercise, while looking at the nice homes and ocean along the way. After staying here, we will continue to return to this beautiful condo, as long as we can. Don't miss this opportunity. Michael is a caring owner and is very responsive. Enjoy!

Alii Drive Quiet Relaxation

This unit is an excellent option for couple looking for a quiet getaway in South Kona. The unit has everything you could want and the owners are very responsive. The widescreen TV is brand new. The unit is very well kept, as is the complex. The landscaping and grounds are immaculate. Very pleasant tropical garden vibe. Assigned parking is close to the unit. 2nd floor walkup. I found the combo lock on the front door to be very convenient- now I want one at home! Super clean pool and BBQ area are just steps away. This unit has a corridor view from the living room and lanai. Bedroom is air-conditioned which seems to be an appropriate energy efficient arrangement. The complex is serious about its no smoking policy, however a smoking area is provided in the corner of the parking lot up by the road. This is a bit of a bummer if you are a smoker, but no doubt a positive if you aren't. Understood that most Alii Drive complexes are non-smoking. Location on Alii Drive is just outside comfortable walking distance from downtown Kona, so will drive most everywhere. Little groovy coffee place with french toast sandwiches located 50 yds away. Interesting tide pools located at the property and cool snorkeling beaches located all throughout the Kona area. Vog was an issue when we were there (late May 2018) but really just depends on wind. Some days were fine (super beautiful!) and some were hazy like LA. You can always drive out of the vog.
