Altea town:

Is probably one of the most beautiful towns in the Costa Blanca, with so much character and Spanish-Valencian feeling. And offers all the services and entertainment you need for your holidays.

Every Tuesday Altea (10 mins by car) has a large clothes and accessories market (near the Algar river walks) and also a wonderful fruit and vegetable section near the Old town. From there you can explore the historic cobbled streets and discover its bohemian atmosphere through street art, galleries, restaurants, clothes, crafts and jewellery shops.

The Altea seafront has a great variety of restaurants offering Mediterranean specialties like fish, seafood and of course paellas. The town, being home to a large British, Dutch, Belgium, German, French and Nordic ex-pat communities, gives you the opportunity to try diverse cuisine and learn about other cultures.

Family Days out:

There are a few children playgrounds in town and also an indoor soft play called Peque Parque, ideal for the high peak hours of sun (Please remember the Sun Warning Guides, specially for children). If you follow the seafront road towards Albir (another lovely beach) you will find El Chiringuito restaurant with another great play area, and further up the road a Mini Golf and more seafront playgrounds. If you have teenagers they may love a fishing, sailing or boat trip to many others beach resorts in the Costa Blanca, or book them into some kayak, windsurf or jet ski lessons at the smaller marina in La Olla.

Benidorm, it´s commonly known for its party atmosphere, but during the day is full of activities for the family. You can visit the famous water park Aqualandia, feed the dolphins and other sea creatures at Mundo Mar, have tons of fun at Terra Mitica theme attraction park, or visit the wild and domestic animals of the world in Terra Natura.

If you like the mountains, from the Villa’s village, you can drive inland towards Callosa d´En Sarria and visit the Fonts of Algar for a refreshing swim in its natural ponds and cascades. Further up you can also visit the town of Guadalest with its historic castle, church and strategic fortress with stunning and dramatic views over the valley and beautiful emerald colour reservoir.

If you fancy something more adventurous, near the villa you can walk the signed trail which leads to the top of the Sierra de Bernia and the ancient fortress ruins, from where you can breathe in the immensity of the Mediterranean and enjoy the fabulous views of Altea. For organized adventures there is a local company called Marco Polo, which offers great fun activities including open roof jeeps, bike and horse rides.

Adult Nights Out:

Benidorm Palace is famous in the Costa Blanca for its cabaret shows, where attractive ladies and gentleman dancers combined their various shows with great acrobatic and magicians acts. You can also opt for tickets including a meal and drinks to enjoy the night in full.

Villajoyosa has a large Casino and buffet restaurant with live music band, if you fancy a booggy afterwards. For the more cultured tastes, the Palau in Altea has a very good Theatre, Opera, Concerts and Musicals programme at very reasonable prices.

Shopping Tips

Altea has plenty of very exclusive boutiques and fine shoe shops for any shoppoholic to find that very special holiday purchase. The old town offer a very wide choice of exclusive gifts and souvenirs.

Go to Finestrat, near Benidorm and you can visit La Marina shopping centre, which has in its top level a few chain restaurants and a fun fair, ideal for those mums who want to experience a bit of shopping therapy while the dads look after the children.
