Family Reunion In Brittany

My wife and I recently returned from a week in Brittany. The occasion was a family gathering. I was my job to find lodging suitable for 8 family members (4 daughters, one father, 2 son-in-laws and a family friend). We choose the area around Dinan as our base because of the Beauty of Dinan itself and the closeness to many other historical points of interest (St Malo, Mt St Michelle etc..). We rented all three structures within the Pehe compound. By doing so our family had plenty of room for quiet time and a central gathering location for family meals. We chose La Grange as our central gathering area due the spaciousness of the central living area, the amazing kitchen facilities and the huge fireplace. As we visited Pehe in the middle of October the fireplace was in operation every night. My wife and I stayed in the Gite which was quite charming and comfortable. The rest of the family spread out over the remaining accommodations. Everybody in the family raved about their rooms. I would highly recommend this property to anybody looking for a location to gather the family or a group of friends who want to explore Brittany. I must mention the owners, Sean and Nigel, They were wonderful to deal with. They made our stay care free and provided a beautiful property in a magical location. A Beautiful Rural Haven

We spent four delightful nights at La Grange at the end of October. We had been looking for a peaceful getaway with our 2 year old daughter and my mum, which this house offers in abundance, and were blown away by the character, space and homeliness of this amazing property. We spent four extremely relaxing evenings lounging in the comfy old leather arm chairs drinking wine by the fireside and preparing meals in the well equipped kitchen. The games room saw some competitive action round the table tennis table too. We could quite happily have not left the house at all! We really enjoyed trips out to medieval Dinan where we explored the old streets and took in the architecture, a very memorable visit to the Grand Aquarium in St Malo and a drive along the coast to Saint Lunaire. We also had some very pleasant walks down the nearby tracks to gather chestnuts. I can't recommend this place highly enough for a relaxing break. We can't wait to go back for a second stay.

The Gite

My other half and I stayed at the Gite for a couple of weeks in May and had a wonderful relaxing holiday. We have stayed in the area before but this is the first time in this accomodation. Booking was very straightforward, the information provided for the journey (if using Sat Nav the co-ordinates provided are spot on) was excellent and arrival was organised just as stated by the owner. The Gite is very well equipped and provides everything you need. Our only negative comment is that the couch is uncomfortable and would be a problem if you had to sit on it for long. However our weather was good and we spent most of our evenings after dinner out in the beautiful gardens. Definitely a place to put on the "will return" list.

Family Holiday

My family rented La Grange and The Farmhouse during the first week in August. Our party ranged in age from 1.5yrs to 80 yrs. We found the properties to be perfect for our needs, allowing plently of space for 8 children to run around both inside and out in safety, and for the adults to find their own space as well. La Grange has been renovated to a very high standard, and this became the family's main meeting and eating area. The Farmhouse proved to be adequate, but possibly in need of some further renovation to match La Grange. The area is absolutely superb, and we all thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local towns, and beaches. Such a stunning coastline! Sean and Nigel have been really helpful and very kind in our quite complicated booking - I would recommend both them and their property to anyone. Don't bother to take your own adult bikes - the selection there is brilliant. As to the ratings, I would rate La Grange as 'excellent' and The Farmhouse as 'good' in their present condition, but as a package for us, the value for money and accommodation was fantastic. If we get the opportunity, we would definately go back again. We even had our own glow-worm outside the front door every evening! We self catered every evening (taking cooking in turns), and both kitchens are really well stocked with utensils. Needlesstosay, the dishwashers proved invaluable! The local supermarket in Dinan is massive, and has everything you could want, and the local bakery in Megrit served us well for croissant and sticks. We were only there for a week, but Pehe quickly became home, and everyone in our party really enjoyed the holiday.

Rural Idyll

We had a really wonderful time in this extremely pictuesque, comfortable location. We travelled with another family, and there were three younger teenagers between us, who all had a ball. They especially enjoyed the freedom to explore, the lovely beaches, and my daughter got a chance to ride horseback in the village, which she loved, despite speaking no French! We loved the countryside around, the coast, and especially the proximity to Mount St Michel and the Normandy beaches, which are great day trips. The house itself is very comfortable and well-appointed, with beautiful views of the lake; we have wonderful memories of meals taken al fresco, on the outside patio. We also had fun eating marvellous seafood at some of the wonderful restaurants in the area. The property was wonderfully maintained, with bikes and games, and the owners are accessible and very helpful. We plan to return as soon as possible!
