For those of you wondering about us, I’m Donna Martinez and along with my husband, Jorge Martinez, we are owners of Sea Ranch vacation rental  Abalone Bay Vacation Home. It is my greatest pleasure to host you and others to our home. We have offered our second home to guests as a vacation rental since 2013.

We have always had a love affair with the “Mendonoma Coast”, otherwise known as the coastline from Sonoma County to Mendocino County. It is here we would come to dive for abalone or fish for cod and salmon to later enjoy feasting on our catch with family and friends.

In fact, it was in the waters just outside our home that we found the 10” abalone that became the inspiration for the naming of our home: “Abalone Bay.”

Why Travelers Book With Us

I love not only Sea Ranch but also all of Sonoma and the Mendocino coast. So to be better equipped to share that love with you, in 2018 I became a Sonoma County Certified Tourism Ambassador. More recently in 2020 I became an Accredited Hospitality Professional. The classes covered key areas of Sonoma County and its hospitality economy. I gained a greater understanding of the power of tourism; customer service and visitor safety; wineries and AVAs; natural environment and sustainability; and art, history and culture. My goal in turn is to assure every visitor encounter is a positive experience. I look forward to helping you, our visitors, to learn more about our wonderful location. More importantly, it is our hope you love it as much as my family and I do.

Beautiful views, well-stocked and welcoming home. Very responsive owner.

Beautiful views, comfortable, and well-stocked home. Owners have thought of everything! Although we had mostly rainy days, we took advantage of the breaks in the rain to walk on the adjacent paths and explore the gorgeous coast. We’re looking forward to returning soon!

A Much Deserved Get-away

My wife and I previously stayed at Abalone Bay several years ago and were very dismayed to find it no longer available for rental. We continued to rent other homes at Sea Ranch because of our love for the area. Unfortunately, after being spoiled, none quite measured up. You can imagine our surprise this year when we found Abalone Bay back on the rental list after an incredible renovation. The home is situated right on the edge of the coast. There are virtually no obstacles blocking the view of the ocean from any of the many floor to ceiling windows surrounding the house. A seal rookery is a five minute walk. A double garage which serves as a game area (ping pong table included) was added and included a covered lighted walkway to the house . A glass sliding door was added to the bedroom for easy access to the spa. A large area that we think served as a laundry room was converted to a TV/reading room with large window seating. Just when you think it couldn’t get better – it did and how! We’re already looking at dates for 2023.

Simply The Best!

Rarely is a vacation rental as advertised, there is always some exaggeration. In this case I think it is fair to say that there was perhaps some understatement! Walking along the bluff top every morning, saying "Hi" to the harbor seals that live at the foot of your garden, seeing a whale swim by blowing salt water into the air and waving his tail fluke at you before diving. Simply amazing place. The end of August seemed like a perfect time to visit as we loved the coastal temperature when just a few miles away folks were melting. And all of that is just the location! The house is very well kept, clean and presented, we slept like logs, drank too much wine we acquired on our visit to the vineyards (nice 90 min country drive), ate well on food from Gualala stores (particularly liked Surf Market). We wanted peace, quiet, relaxation and great walking and we got that and so much more in and around Sea Ranch. Thank You.

Beautiful house; clean, well-appointed, ocean views and easy access. The stars at night were incredible - Milky Way like a brush stroke across the sky. Appreciated the extra dog friendly amenities like dishes, towels, doggie bags, and treat. Kitchen was a joy to use - tons of dishes, cookware, even spices. BBQ worked great and hot tub was wonderful, both located on the beautiful flagstone patio. Saw a hummingbird flitting around the blossoms.

This well appointed house with its dog welcoming features was beyond our expectations in every way; right on the bluff, watching the whitecaps from the living room or the chairs outside, was a soulful and calming experience. the large private fenced courtyard offered a wonderful hot tub and complete privacy from other houses nearby. The only jarring note was having a house so close to ours that there are notes necessary about where to walk and keeping the tv shaded. Overall we would consider this property next year too.
